Responsibilities:
- Perform duties according to the state’s Dental Auxiliaries Table of Permitted Duties.
- Attend to patients and parents' individual needs and expectations.
- Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; maintain cleanliness of each operatory in compliance with state infection control guidelines.
- Prepare patients for treatment, assist the dentist with procedures, and efficiently complete radiographs and intra-oral images; accurately document all relevant information in the digital patient chart as directed by the dentist.
- Understand and take basic pediatric vital signs.
- Educate patients on postoperative care and general oral health as instructed by the dentist.
- Ensure equipment is maintained according to manufacturer specifications.
- Adhere strictly to all State, Federal, and regulatory guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Certifications/licenses/registrations as required by the state (e.g., coronal polishing, radiograph exposure, ultrasonic scaling for orthodontics, pit and fissure sealant application, etc.).
- Associate degree or a one-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
