Job Description

Overview

The Legal Talent & Recruiting Coordinator supports the effective, efficient, and consistent delivery of programs related to the firm's competency-based talent management model. This role works closely with Legal Personnel, Professional Development, Talent Acquisition, and Diversity & Inclusion teams to coordinate attorney lifecycle processes-including evaluations, onboarding, recruiting, leaves, transitions, and compensation. The position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, analytical ability, and the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced professional services environment.

Primary Responsibilities

Legal Personnel & Attorney Development

  • Coordinate semiannual evaluation processes for associates, senior associates, counsel, special counsel, discovery attorneys, and staff attorneys.

  • Build strong working relationships with committee members and serve as a resource for attorney development matters.

  • Compile, analyze, and prepare statistical data and reporting for surveys, internal inquiries, and leadership updates.

  • Coordinate arrival processes for lateral attorneys, incoming hires, staff attorneys, and technical specialists.

  • Manage all aspects of attorney departures, including exit interviews, transition coordination, and follow-up reporting.

  • Support the annual attorney compensation process in collaboration with leadership.

  • Assist with planning firm-wide and office-level meetings, programs, and events, including space reservations, logistics, and onsite coordination.

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of firm policies related to attorneys and ensure proper implementation.

  • Maintain personnel data in Oracle and ensure accuracy and confidentiality of attorney records.

  • Serve as the point of contact for attorney leave and reduced-hours programs; monitor time, provide guidance, and track program details.

  • Complete monthly reporting for attorneys not yet admitted to practice and follow up to ensure compliance.

  • Process reimbursements, track vendor invoices, and support expense-related workflows.

  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Support

  • Coordinate communications, events, sponsorships, and attendance tracking for DEI programs and initiatives.

  • Maintain affinity group distribution lists and assist with DEI-related outreach and logistics.
Legal Recruitment

  • In partnership with the Recruiting Manager, execute the Summer Associate Program, including pre-arrival communications, orientation, mentoring assignments, training programs, evaluations, and social events.

  • Collaborate with practice groups and pro bono teams to gather substantive work assignments and observational opportunities for summer associates; manage workload systems and evaluation processes.

  • Support all aspects of law school recruitment, including scheduling interviews, coordinating interviewers, collecting feedback, managing follow-up, and assisting with law school relationships and branding efforts.

  • Coordinate recruiting receptions, offer dinners, and campus events.

  • Ensure accurate tracking of recruiting data and support Affirmative Action compliance and reporting.

  • Prepare recruiting correspondence, run background checks, and escalate issues as necessary.

  • Compile and analyze recruiting metrics for leadership updates, committee meetings, and survey requests.

  • Support year-round engagement efforts with law schools and student organizations.

  • Assist with recruiting judicial clerks and lateral attorneys.

  • Identify sourcing opportunities and maintain relationships with external job boards, agencies, and professional associations.

  • Coordinate onboarding processes for new associates, lateral hires, staff attorneys, and technical specialists, offering feedback for ongoing improvement.

  • Respond to inquiries from attorneys and staff, providing information or directing them to appropriate resources.
Budget & Administrative Support

  • Assist with annual budget development and ongoing monitoring of expenses.

  • Resolve discrepancies, coordinate payments, reimbursements, and vendor billing in accordance with firm policies.
Service Excellence

  • Uphold the firm's standards for service excellence in communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications & Requirements

Skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including proficiency in business writing, grammar, and correspondence.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with talent management systems (e.g., viDesktop, Oracle, PeopleSoft) preferred.

  • Experience with applicant tracking systems (e.g., LawCruit) preferred.
Experience

  • 1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably within a law firm or professional services environment.

  • Experience working with senior-level professionals.

  • Prior experience managing projects and responsibilities independently.
Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
