Job Description

About the Role

We are a busy professional household seeking an organized, proactive, and discreet House Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our private residence. The ideal candidate is trustworthy, detail-oriented, and comfortable wearing many hats in a calm and supportive manner. This is a long-term position for someone who takes pride in creating a smooth-running, welcoming home environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Light housekeeping (maintaining tidiness, laundry, changing linens, light cleaning after meals or daily use – a separate cleaning service handles deep cleaning)
  • Meal preparation: Planning and cooking healthy dinners 4–5 nights per week. Ability to accommodate dietary preferences and prepare meals in advance when needed.
  • Grocery shopping, household supply inventory, and restocking
  • Organizing closets, pantries, storage areas, and seasonal decor changes
  • Scheduling and coordinating appointments for the property (vendors, contractors, pest control, pool service, landscapers, etc.)
  • Overseeing maintenance, repairs, and home improvement projects (obtaining quotes, supervising workers, following up on completion and quality)
  • Light bookkeeping: Tracking household expenses, reconciling credit card statements, and maintaining a simple budget spreadsheet
  • Running house-related errands (dry cleaning, post office, returns, specialty shopping, etc.)
  • Managing household calendars (appliance service renewals, filter changes, inspections, etc.)
  • Occasional oversight of additional vendors or staff (cleaners, gardeners, etc.)
  • Pet care support: Must be very comfortable with (and enjoy) dogs. We have one large-to-medium sized, friendly dog.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in private household management, personal assistant, or hospitality management roles
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with a calm, professional demeanor
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable cooking nutritious meals
  • Extremely comfortable and confident with a large-to-medium sized dog (experience with breeds 50–90 lbs preferred)
  • Discreet and respectful of privacy – references will be checked
  • Ability to pass a background check
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Able to lift 20 pounds

Schedule & Benefits

Typical schedule is Monday–Friday with occasional weekend flexibility (advance notice given). Benefits include paid vacation (2 weeks to start), major holidays, and sick days.

If you are proactive, warm, and love creating an organized and comfortable home environment (and you’re a dog person!), we’d love to meet you.

To Apply: Please email your resume, a brief cover letter explaining why this role is a fit, and at least two professional references to csanders@lumenorconsulting.com. We will only contact candidates selected for an interview.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Work Location: In person
